The Peer Mentorship Workshop is a four-part series made available twice a year. Any interested students and programs are welcome to participate! Students who complete the entire series will be issued an e-badge of completion.
The four sessions of this series are Leadership, Identity, Professionalism, and Relationships. Each session is offered once per cycle. All sessions are online via Zoom and are free to participants. Students interested in participating individually or as part of a class or program requirement can sign up through our website when they become available.
Student Success and the International Mentoring Association intentionally structured each workshop with research-based expertise. This series provides students with a modern, ethical view of mentorship.
Mentoring benefits the mentees and can be a valuable and transformative experience for you as the peer mentor. By actively listening, empathizing, and sharing your knowledge and experiences, you can deepen your understanding of different perspectives, challenge your assumptions, and expand your self-understanding.
Mentors are considered professional learners in leadership roles on campus. Discover how the peer mentor role intersects with students’ future career goals by presenting professionalism tips and mentoring boundaries. This workshop also highlights the marketable professional skills of mentoring with strategies to share the professional mentoring experience.
In this session, peer mentors will learn a structured approach for a smooth and personalized mentoring session using the appreciative mentoring model. This model focuses on creating rapport, utilizing positive language, and employing powerful questions to facilitate meaningful conversations that support students moving toward their goals.

UF has several peer mentoring programs across campus. Check out the opportunities below or visit the Peer Mentoring section of the Student Success Campus Resource Guide.
Campus Mentoring Programs:
UF Student Success worked closely with the International Mentoring Association to develop content focused on the most foundational components of peer mentor responsibilities. Together, we bring research-based expertise to our understanding of peer mentor practices across campus. These workshops do not replace program training for peer mentors. Instead, students and programs can supplement their peer mentor training through this enhancement.
