Steps for Success: Before Preview
1. Register for Preview
Preview is run by the Center for New Student & Family Programs. Information about Preview registration, Preview dates, and what to expect at Preview can all be found on their First Year Orientation website. That website also features a robust FAQ section as well as the Center's email and phone number.

2. Start Preview Prep
Preview Prep is a self-paced online module that new Gators complete at least 3 days prior to their Preview session. Prep collects information related to your academic background and interests, so you can be confident in major and course selection.
In Preview Prep, you’ll get a chance to:
- Explore majors.
- Learn about degree requirements.
- Understand how your incoming credits are likely to apply to your degree.
- Consider your academic goals.
- Begin to identify the courses you might want to take.
- Learn if you need to take a placement assessment for math or chemistry courses before participating in Preview.
All the information you input into Prep is printed onto your Prep Sheet, which helps your Preview Advisor give you accurate and personalized advice during Preview.
Preview Prep will be available starting at 10:00 am ET on Tuesday, April 15, 2025. There are several other email reminders sent in the few weeks leading up to Preview, so check your email and take care of these tasks before Preview.

Be willing to take electives solely for interest. They can lead to majors or minors in fields you are genuinely interested in and good at. Even single classes that do not lead to a major or minor can have a profound impact on your life.
- Andy Nichols, Lecturer, Classical Studies
3. Finalize Preview Prep
About a week before your Preview session, go back and look through Prep. Don't worry! We've saved all your answers, so you won't need to enter anything again. But, if anything has changed since you started Prep, you can update that now. Make sure that you have completed Prep in its entirety and that you have taken the ALEKS placement assessment at least 3 days before your Preview session begins.

I highly recommend that all students with pre-health goals – regardless of the credits they will be bringing into UF – take the ALEKS placement assessment BEFORE attending Preview. The ALEKS score helps advisors tailor your first-semester schedule and ensure minimal issues during your registration. Make sure you set aside time to complete the ALEKS so that your advisors can best help you on your pre-health journey!
